** Out of The Comfort Zone For Charity ** – Me and A Horse

** Out of The Comfort Zone For Charity **

Ok, so I last rode a pony competitively when I was about 10 years old!

I have been thinking of doing a One Day Event for a year or so now, but have finally bitten the bullet and mentioned the idea to Lizzie….the rest is history! For those of you who are wondering what that entails….. Dressage Test, Show Jumping and Cross Country….”just like” you may have seen at the Olympics …..well a little smaller 😉

We have decided that I should take on the challenge of competing at a BE80(T) . Thats the height of the jumps I believe…

This is a way outside of my comfort zone, which is after all where most things worthwhile actually happen!

My work as a health and fitness coach, my sport of ironman triathlon naturally keeps me fit, but this will offer a few different challenges for me and my trusty steed, Millie.

Ironically, this event is actually only a stones throw from where I did my first ever Ironman 70.3 event, at Wimbelball Lake on Exmoor.

I have seen the Wilberry wonder pony charity through my sister Lizzie and we decided that this would be a fitting charity. Here is more info on the great work that the charity does…..https://www.willberrywonderpony.org/pages/what-we-do

I have bought my Willberry pony and I plan to wear it around the cross country course. The name of my pony is at present to be decided.

I am planning (if the prep goes well ) to do this at Treborough Hill at the end of August. I am going to ride a horse that my sister trains and has done some BE 90’s on, and who’s kind owner, Flo, has allowed me the chance to do so.

I am really excited about the challenge and the thought that in doing so I can have an impact on people who aren’t as fortunate as myself and provide happiness to people that I may never even meet.

I have done a fair bit of charity work mainly for childrens hospice south west, in hosting seminars, fitness days and running half marathons and this is equally exciting.

If you want to follow my journey here then we have set up a special page
