Another super fun event today hosted by the Mad Hatters Sport Events company down at Polkerris Beach near Fowey.
A part of the south coast of Cornwall that is normally sheltered and like a mill pond, today was on the other hand….. different! A 4ft swell and driving rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the 70 or so competitors and the spectators/ support crews 🙂
The swim went pretty well for me coming out in around 16th place….. the swell did make it difficult to sight the bouys and ensured a bit of salt water was inhaled!
A bit of a wobble in transition, saved by the wall, I ended up sat down to change into run shoes for the 4 mile coastal path run.
Off on the run with a stinker of a hill and steps to start, had to walk a little bit….lungs felt like they were coming out of my mouth!
Then cracked on and felt awesome to be honest overtaking 11 throughout the route which was now slippery because of the rain…..but beautiful though!
So overall a really pleasing race, nice to see Del Pitcher representing Blue Seventy there and Mike and Faye Parsons…..THE Cornish Triathlon COUPLE and former teammates from last season.
Strongly recommend Mad Hatters, super friendly, very supportive for beginners and great prizes 🙂
