The “R” word….. What a set of them…..

Results from the weekend…….

This weekend our clients were competing all over the world in different challenges…..

From time to time there is a weekend of EPIC results and courage that I get to witness. I my mind ….what ever their results….. they were all at the start line having made a decision to try which I am proud of them for!

I was fortunate enough to have been able to watch 1200 every day people, all of which I class as being AWESOME just for getting on the start line at the UK Ironman 70.3 on Exmoor.

Having done this race for the last 3 years consecutively……. I can assure you it is BRUTAL.

Nicky and Dan

Long story short…… Both Dan (a close friend of mine and training partner) and Nicky ( a client of mine for nearly 7 years) both qualified for the World Championships in Australia. Just to put this in perspective, there will 1800 of the worlds best athletes there on the day and they both claimed spots to be there!

Words cannot explain how I felt when I knew that these two fine humans had got their spots….I think I was happier and more emotional when they got them than when I did!

Dan “The IRONMan” Kinver
Mike, Nicky and I …… CHUFFED TO BITS!

Kay

Then we had Kay running her first half marathon in Torbay. She has been working so consistently and hard she deserved to enjoy it and do well. That she did, her aim was under 2 hours, she did this in 1:54. I advised her to go a little slower on the first half so she didn’t burn out too quickly. She followed the plan and smashed the second half of the race.

Becky

Then there was Becky, also running in the same race…..now you may have heard me talk about Becky before.

This is what happens when you commit to a lifestyle change not a fad…..

This busy mum and business owner, has also lost 6.5 inches from her waist, knocked over 20 minutes off her half marathon time in the last 18 weeks…..since I have known her she has dramatically improved her strength and completely changed her eating habits!

The key thing here is……You cannot manage what you don’t measure…….

She now knows how to, what to and when to do the right things to make this part of her lifestyle!

The two things that matter to me have been achieved here…..

  1. RESULTS
  2. EXPERIENCE

18 weeks of commitment to a change and these could be your RESULTS?!

Vin

Then we had Vin who decided to tie in a half marathon with her holiday. She did the Vancouver half marathon in western Canada. Running in the heat Vin managed an age group PB. Vin is so consistent with her approach to training and is a great example of what can be achieved by training smart and getting stronger!

Dan and Vicky

We also had a couple of clients doing the Dartmoor Classic cycle. That event is a toughy, those who have done it know what a good challenge that is. Dan had been combing a busy work schedule and being a dad with taking up triathlon and Vicky is a fantastic lady, whom Mike coaches at our studio, who just keeps picking more challenges to tackle!

Well done to Dan and Vicky for finishing that one.

Jason = 63lbs in 2016

Before we go we should also mention Jason …… this is what he achieved over the last few of months…..he shared this on social media. Check out these results!! Jason is a busy dad and a business owner…..so I haven’t locked him in a cave to achieve this!

“On the 24th April after training hard from 13th Feb by myself I had a body composition scan with Matt at his studio.

The results showed a 18.1 pounds (9.6%)body fat.

Today I’ve had a follow up to check my progress towards optimum race weight.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive the results showing 7.8 pounds (4.3%) body fat..

An overall weight loss of 63 pounds.

This with no loss of any lean mass, healthy fat or hydration. This is amazing news!

Although health and fitness was my key objective not weight loss this is great news.

I’d like to thank Matt Luxton for his continued support and guidance. Matt is an amazing professional with a real passion for health and fitness. His knowledge is second to none. Matt has educated me in all areas of excises, eating as an athlete, rest and triathlon.

I’d also like to thank Paul Moore and all the guys at elements Triathlon club for great coaching and motivation. Here’s to another 7.8 pounds of fat to bring me inline with an athlete composition and totally lean”.
