Tamar Charity Fitness Challenge Day

Good afternoon,

I just wanted to share with you something that happened yesterday which brought a little more good to the world than the events in Paris earlier in the weekend.
My thoughts are with all of those people directly affected by that…..
So…. about 5 weeks ago Nick Lane and I had an idea and decided that we would hold an event, namely The Tamar Charity Fitness Challenge.

We invited a mixture of clients that are regulars on both of our programmes were invited to do a fun but competitive “challenge day”.

There were 5 events that tested different aspects of fitness, teamwork and tactics.

We deliberately mixed the teams up between our clientele, this made for such a fun and social event, many of the competitors commented on  how nice it was to meet others. (check out the video at the bottom later)

Competitors were allocated into teams of 3 or 4 and completed in events that ranged from 5 to 9 minutes.

This doesn’t sound much, but when you are going as hard as you can, it really is enough.

Competitors across the 8 teams kindly donated to Childrens Hospice South West and a total of £613.05 was raised, which was fantastic.

We are really looking forward to hosting the next event in 2016 after some fantastic feedback and want to thank all competitors,
Julie Credicott at Blue Skies Catering for an awesome spread and our two judges James Hawken and James Daniel for giving up their time to be very encouraging, efficient
and fair judges.

So……roll on the next event…… which naturally Nick and I have already discussed and put down ideas on how we will make the next one even better again which we are looking to hold in the first half of 2016.

I am so chuffed that so many took up this opportunity to step outside their comfort zones and realise how good they are and just what is possible.

It also reminds me to never be afraid to go the extra mile and I too need to continue stepping outside of my comfort zone in organising events etc for these awesome people to have fun,
work in teams and have great experiences.
