Meat Consumption TV and 4.5 Inches Off The Waist

Meat Consumption………. that programme….

Ok, so I don’t know if you watched the BBC Horizon programme on meat consumption or not……..

I didn’t either at the time………..

BUT I had a lot of emails and facebook messages asking me if I was watching it…….

So I caught up……..

( this email is not intended to debate the ethical nature of consuming meat, we all have our own views on that, which is 100% cool)

So the major conclusion from the programme was that “processed meat is dangerous and causes bowel cancer”

So should we avoid meat?

NO.

You see no-one is advocating that you eat salami, sausages and chorizo as the mainstay of you protein and meat intake………….. if you are eating whole, natural and unprocessed cuts of meat then you are fine, no cancer is 100% guaranteed to develop.

One thing we do know is that cancer, viruses and bacteria does thrive in acidic conditions ….hence why I recommend to my clients that they look for alkaline food sources.

—- the media screw things up—-

It makes good tv, it gets people talking and it scares the shit out of people who unfortunately don’t know any better.

You see they threw processed meat in the same category as red meat!

Different kettle of fish entirely!

Proccessed meat should be eaten rarely……… natural , unprocessed meat…..fantastic.

—— the causal factors——

After watching the programme I researched this (luckily I have access to a lot of this through my university)……… I couldn’t find any studies that conclusively prove that processed meat is causal, the likelihood is that people who eat processed meat tend to have poorer nutrition, lifestyle and exercise habits.

Also did the study that has been conducted for the BBC allowed for confounders such as trans fats, smoking, alcohol, lack of exercise, lack of dietary fibre, sedentary work and lifestyle? I don’t think they did!

These are all things that need to be considered before  we can even blame processed meat….which we know contains an awful lot of harmful substances.

—– the presenter was horrendous—-

yep (not him personally) , but his diet! Yes he was on a high meat diet…but they did fail to mention all of the other rubbish he was eating as well.

He was eating fried onion rings, burger buns and then wondered why he was putting on a few Kg’s around the middle!?!

You only have to look at a tin of hot dogs to realise that the preservatives that keep it “in date” for so long are probably not that good for you.

—– this lady ate meat——

Ok so recently (this week) an online client sent me these pictures.
